That could possibly happen if more communities in Henderson County could/would lower their fire protection classes (PC).
Presently a majority of the Henderson County Kentucky volunteer fire departments are ISO (Insurance Service Office) rated PC 9 departments. We need that to change in order to lower homeowners’ insurance premiums in our county. PC 1 is the best and 10 is the worst.
A few volunteer fire departments in the Henderson county Kentucky have upgraded their equipment and received lower PC ratings. When the PC is lowered the premiums are lowered significantly.
Presently we only have 2 departments lower than PC 9. The Zion Fire Department is a PC 6 and Robards Fire Department is a PC 7. The Corydon Civil Defense Fire Department will have their class lowered October 1, 2009 to PC 6. Previously they have been a PC 9.
All homeowners and other property policies that are affected by this change will be endorsed effective October 1, 2009 to reflect this change. We here at Vaughn Insurance are in the process of taking care of this for our clients automatically.
As independent insurance agents we urge you to make it a point to have a conversation with your County Government officials (county judge and magistrates') and let them know how important it is to you as a homeowner/business owner in Henderson County KY to give county fire departments resources to improve the fire protection. When fire protection is improved homeowners rates also are reduced.
We also urge you to support your local Volunteer Fire Department. Your support may be what they need to make that change that could save you $200 or more in insurance premium a year.
