By Blake A. Beaver
The meteorologist said it’d be the worst in 4 years
This ice that was coming was horrible news to our ears
When at first it hit, it did not seem so bad
Little did we know this was just part of what it had
Many families went to sleep that night oblivious to this long time fight
The next day there was just a coating but still that ice kept flowing
When nightfall came ice had engulfed everything
The weight of the ice on the trees and power lines was just too much
Tree by tree line by line the ice pulled them down in a matter of time
Houses went dark and soon fell cold
A few people died of hypothermia some young some old
Only a couple of people had generators on hand
If only people had prepared and had a plan
It took days for the electrical companies to restore power
What would some have done if they knew power would be lost again in a matter of hours
When everything started to look better a squall line came with high wind
Mixed with the ice damage we feared this would not be a good blend
Now time has passed and power is restored
Things are on their way back to normal once more
